The air outside of the balloon has to be pretty cool for the hot air inside the balloon to rise. My first one was in 1973 when I was 12 yrs old. I later started building larger tissue paper balloons, and then was so thrille with ballooning, I took lessons, and then got the real thing, and was a balloon pilot for several years.
