Ants are supposed to live in a much larger colony. These ants are taken away from their large family and placed in this fascinating but stressful setting. Ants can live in this thing about 2 to 4 month, then they die. If you set them free, they cannot just go and join some other family, they will die outside the box. Of course, most of us don't give a dime for a few little ants, but cruelty and torturing animals is not something I want my kids to learn. - Saturday, June 27, 2009Cruel Reviewed By: Diana (Ventura, CA) The ants are really active at first but once they've dug a few tunnels they just hang out in groups acting dazed and confused! They have spent the last 2 months desperately trying to get out at the top near the air holes. My 7 year old put it well. "Lots of people don't see animals the way we do. They see them as entertainment not important like humans." It is great the way you can see through it and watch everything the ants are doing. This one is a must-have. The illuminator makes it even better, you can use it as a nightlight. |
