I reqard it as more desktop sculpture/art then something used to demonstrate a scientific principle but you can do that as well with it. Wind it up and let it go. Or just push it and watch it swing. Mine had a bit of rust on the wheel. The strings are not equal, and adjusting them is difficult. I do not recommend it.
