Estes Rocket Engines

These solid propellent engines provide the power for your rockets. The letter represents the total impulse in Newton-seconds: A = 2.5, B = 5, C = 10, and D = 20.

The first number after the letter represents the engine's average push or how fast the engine powers the rocket to go. The higher the number, the faster the speed. It is measured in Newtons (4.45 Newtons = 1lb.).

The second number is the time delay in seconds between the end of the thrust phase and ignition of the ejection charge.

Thus a type A8-3 delivers 8 newtons average thrust, for 2.5 newton-seconds, followed by a three second delay.

Note that booster engines have no delay. Engines come with igniters and instructions. All rocket engines come in a package of 3.
