Buyer should be aware that this product has a 2 year life-span on average. I gave it 4 stars because the idea of a self-sustaining eco-system is fascinating. I only wish it could last longer.

Our Ecosphere

Our Ecosphere is fifteen years old, and the two brine shrimp have lived through power outages in the dead of winter and hot summers. It has been moved from one state to another. It has resided in the room of a little boy who turned into a teenager and is now away at college. The little shrimp serenely continue eating the algae and swimming around. They have grown ever so slightly and are nearing half an inch long now. The water has declined just a little but the Sphere is still sealed and tight, and living.

Better than Sea Monkeys!

We had one of these for about 6yrs before it met an unfortunate end due to our children. (We had the Sphere before the kids)... Very easy to care for, just place in enough sunlight, not too much. Its so much fun to watch the shrimp swim and eat. Even if there where no shrimp in it, its still beautiful. Just keep young kids away from it.
BTW, some people think they are snow globes and shake them before you can stop them. We lost a couple of shrimps this way. :(
