A portable, light weight Solar Tracking System for field use!
Excellent for hiking and camping, the ChumAlong (tm) offers you off-grid power anywhere you go.
ChumAlong™ is a device for orienting a solar photovoltaic panel toward the sun. As the sun's position in the sky varies during the day, ChumAlong’s™ job is to make sure
the Solar Panel is always pointing at the brightest point in the sky. Accomplishing this ensures that the solar panel can deliver it’s maximum output from available sunlight of the day.
30%-50% increases in efficiency can be obtained over conventional stationary methods!
Setup takes only a few minutes and requires no tools.
Unit includes micro-controller technology, single axis positioning, geared stepper motor gear/worm gear drive train, four optical sensors, three LED modes, auto wake up and shutdown, and so much more.

This idea is very well suited for certain test facilities etc... However they need to get the wattage up on the panel for it to have a better ROI. - Tuesday, February 24, 2009 missing specs Reviewed By: david (Ligonier, Pa) This little item is really cool, however it would help if a few pretenent dimensions were included, its overall weight (minus battery of course) the size of the solar panel itself, and its over all ability to withstand weather conditions, heat/cold, rain, and perhaps most important wind.
