Highly Impressed

I believe most retailers would classify this as a pocket transit, something I would have liked to buy but found cost prohibitive. This compass features a peep hole with a magnifying glass that allows you to see a scale on the edge of the rotating disc and easily read bearings to within 1/2 degree. It's rather large (3.5"x2.5"x1") and all metal housing - heavy. The inclinometer can be read to within 1 degree, but not as easily as the compass. The manual is probably translated from Chinese and thus written in a rather peculiar manner - I wouldn't want this to be my first introduction to compass use. But it describes how to measure distances and lengths using the compass and a table that's printed on the bottom of it.
I've tried surveying my property with other compasses but the bearings just would never add up to close the traverse. This gave accurate readings and everything worked out perfectly.

This is not a cheap little plastic compass!
For some reason they don't give the name of the brand on here. (konustar)
After getting it home, seeing it, feeling the substance of it, and reading about it online, I'm very pleased with my purchase!! And I saved a little from the other prices I found online too!!
It is a gift so I didn't give it 5 stars because I won't be the one using it

Sat dish alignment
Reviewed By:

This is an excellent compass for motor home satellite dish alignment. It works well, is accurate and easy to use. I like it better than my $180 Suunto Tandem. To align a manual dish you must determine where north is so the reference dial can be set. This compass makes that job easy. Determine what direction the motor home is facing by getting 10 or more feet in front or back of the home and sighting down the edge of the home. Read the heading on the compass and set the adjustable pivoting dial to the same heading. Open the compass all the way and place against the inside wall of the home and north will be shown on the pivoting dial triangle (36 on the dial) Note: Do not read the floating compass dial at this point.
