Natural Salt Lamps

An Edmund Scientific Exclusive!
You'll love the warm natural ambiance of these lamps...

Halite is the mineral form of sodium chloride, NaCl, commonly known as rock salt. The mineral is typically colorless to yellow, but may be also light blue, dark blue, or pink. Halite occurs in vast lakes of sedimentary evaporate minerals that result from the drying up of enclosed lakebeds and seas.

These natural salt crystal deposits are mined underground in Pakistan. When mining this material, explosives are strictly prohibited to preserve the structure of the crystals. Each lamp is carefully crafted by hand to retain the beautiful, natural shape of the rock. The result is a unique piece---no two are ever the same---varying in size and shape.

Each lamp exhibits a rough, natural outer surface that emits a soothing, translucent, pink light when fitted with the 110VAC lighting fixture included. Some health enthusiasts have even reported on the positive ionizing properties created by the effect of the warmed halite on the surrounding air in the room. Whatever the effect, you'll love the warm natural ambiance of these lamps in your home or office.

The lamps weigh approximately 12-16 pounds, are 5"-7" wide and 8"-10" tall, including the height of the handcrafted wooden base. Some assembly required.

Salted Light

The photograph does not do this justice at all. First off, this thing is massive. And weighs a ton! Very simple to set up. Unwrap, put light fixture into hole that has been carved in the bottom of the attached base and into the crystal, plug it in and turn it on. Exudes a warm orange-ish glow that is very relaxing. I've seen salt lamps half this size going for the same price or more at new age and alternative health stores. I would recommend this to anyone thinking about purchasing a salt lamp or any sort of unique geological item. BTW, this is real salt. My kids just had to taste it.
