This Fiber Optic Light Wand creates an awesome visual – all colors and light everywhere! But, the real question is: how does it work?

The optical fiber is a cylinder that transmits light along its axis by the process of total internal reflection. Specific dimensions of the core (center of the fiber) and cladding (area around the core) are necessary so that the refractive index will confine the light to the core, thus producing the dazzling light show in this wand.
