Range is more like 30 ft tops. Our preschool grandsons loved it, though. We followed the instructions to the letter, and launched it repeatedly. It is difficult to make the plug stay in long enough to get enough "fizz" to make a good launch. It is a good alternative to the "gunpowder" rockets, and fun to watch go. I have no idea how it would get anywhere near 300 ft.
