Jensen Steam Engine - Dry Fuel Heated

Jensen Steam Engine - Dry Fuel Heated
A Do-It-Yourself Model Steam Engine

An American tradition, this solid brass and nickel plated steam engine is perfect for learning more about mechanical energy, motion and the way "things work".

The steam engine runs on steam pressure made by heating water in a boiler just as water is boiled in a tea kettle. In the early 1700's, the first practical steam engines were built to pump water. Over the years, though, steam engines were used to operate many other types of equipment.

This fully-assembled Jensen Steam Engine is a great first engine! It is equipped with seamless brass silver soldered boilers, deluxe 3" power take off flywheel, safety valve, whistle & throttle valve, nickel plated finish engine and boiler, water level gauge, custom lube oil, filling funnel, dry fuel for 1 hour running time (except electrics) and operator's manual.

Includes pop valve, whistle and throttle. (Uses Esbit Dry Fuel Tablets)

Nice little demo steam engine
Reviewed By: Bobodobo (Los Angeles, California)
This engine is relatively easy to assemble and run. The kids love watching it, though they always have to learn the hard way that the boiler is hot! The engine runs reasonably well, but even fully tightened several of the steam connections leak. Also the whistle it a bit difficult to turn on and off without burning yourself - a longer handle would be useful. And the cylinder spits out a lot of hot water and steam. Really they're just small problems but prevent me from giving it a 5-star rating.

great!

I ordered the kit type and i had no problems with leaks. Just make sure to screw the piston on tight enough! I did not screw it in tight because I was afraid there would be to much friction and it came off and sprayed boiling water and steam all over me! It is a great model and is well machined. but as another reviewer mentioned the smoke stack wont stay on. But it is just for looks and does not rely mater. I would get it if i were you, it is a nice engine.

Jensen Steam Engine

I bought the pre-assembled model and had no problem with leaks. I had a Jensen steam engine as a kid in the 60's: same high quality build. My only complaint is that the smoke stack (a non-fuctional part) won't stay on. The engine itself runs quite well if you keep the piston properly lubricated.
