This beautiful amber-colored gemstone is a form of quartz with ferric-iron impurities. It is rarely found naturally, and is most often created commercially by heating amethyst or smoky quartz.

Derived from the French word for lemon, citrine was revered by the ancients as a gift from the sun and a powerful antidote to the viper’s venom.

It is an alternative birthstone for November.
