Underwhelmed

First of all, Edmund Scientific rocks. The only reason this review scores a 3 is because of ES's excellent service.
Regarding the Orbitor, I had high hopes for this but was greatly disappointed. The biggest problem was it didn't work. Obviously, I got a defective one, and I'm sure the manufacturer - Hubbard - makes them in working order, but there were other problems. For one, when it arrived and I took it out of the box, it was covered in a thin oil. I assume this was from lubricating the internal mechanisms, but what a mess. I bought the light-up version and the electrical connectors were frayed and the insulator was damaged - not a good thing if this goes to schools with youngsters. The sun globe was poorly aligned when gluing the two halves and was unattractive. Most of the Earth globe's printed map was peeling off. Clearly, Hubbard needs to address quality control in its manufacturing process. It was a big downer for me to receive such a poorly constructed model - and of course, the fact that it didn't work. When I called Edmund Scientific to see about a return, the rep was very helpful and within two days I had a paid return label for UPS to return the item. So, I'm loving Edmund and pretty darn disappointed with Hubbard.
