Electro Magnet, 200 Lb. Lift

200lbs of lift!

Electromagnetism was discovered in 1820 by Oersted. His discovery was a result of observing that a magnetic field was surrounding an electrical conductor, while current flowed through it. He also discovered that the direction of flow of the current, affected the direction of the magnetic field and that it was perpendicular to the wire.

You will be amazed by the strength of this compact electromagnet. What is more amazing is that is powered by only 4 "C" batteries.

Cold rolled steel body with black oxide finish contains wire coil. Mounted battery holder. Two 5/16" x 18" eyebolts (2 3/8" raised). Operates on 4 "C" batteries (not included). 4" Long x 2 7/8" Dia. Weighs 2 lbs.

This magnet is not lifting 200lbs at all, not by far. It is actually much weaker than an average neodymium magnet (tested it out over a bunch of office push pins. It was only able to attract one pin at very close range, with all of the 4 batteries loaded.) The holding power comes from the polished surfaces between the hook piece and the magnet, so that already a small magnetic attracting force is sufficient to glue these two together. Another issue are the compartments for the 4 C batteries: They are too small. I had to squeeze mine into them and the walls of the compartments broke. The batteries hold, but this is certainly not how it is supposed to work. Overall, if you are interested in a strong magnet this fake product will just not cut it. A waste of money. An extremely poor product.
