Designed specifically for younger students with input by professional
educators, the DigiScope 150 and DigiScope 300 Digital Microscopes from Motic
Instruments will take you and your class on a journey of microscopic discovery
the likes of which they have never experienced before. Both are simple to set
up and easy to use.
Developed using the same advanced digital microscopy technology found in our
high-end Boreal and Motic Digital Microscopes, these beginner models are LED
field microscopes with built-in CMOS digital camera.
The DigiScope 150 features a 10x to 50x manual zoom lens that provides on-screen
magnification of 42x to 210x. The lower magnification provides a larger field
of view.
The DigiScope 300 features a 20X to 100X manual zoom lens. In both cases the
zoom is seamless, providing exceedingly crisp images and an exceptional 4mm depth
of field. Because of the camera's high frame rate (~10fps) focusing can be done
in real-time.
Image size can be configured to best suit the computer screen you are viewing
specimens on. Choices include: 160x120, 176x144, 320x240, 355x288 and 640x480.
In side by side tests with the Intel QX-3 both DigiScope models showed superior
image quality at equal magnifications, and superior resolution at both maximum
and minimum magifications.
The camera plugs directly into your PC or MAC via the included USB cable. Works
with desktops, laptops and even projection devices. To prevent loss, the cable
is permanently attached to the camera. The camera can be removed allowing you
to take the microscope anywhere.
Both models come with two stages - a slide stage with molded-in stage clips for
viewing regular microscope slides, and a reversible whole objects stage/"swimming
pool" stage. The whole objects stage side is great for studying bugs, leaves,
small rocks or other non-slide specimens. The swimming pool side features a small
indent that is ideal for the study of pond water.
Despite its "child-like" interface the included Motic Play software on CD-ROM
is actually very powerful, extremely robust, image capture and manipulation software.
With it students can capture still images or video of specimens. Specimens can
be measured in microns, mm or inches. Pixel based measuring results in extreme
accuracy. Images are automatically saved to a folder for later use.
Images can be printed out, measured, flipped, painted on, labeled or "rubber
stamped" will dozens of fun shapes. Your students will spend hours learning while
having fun "playing" at and discoverying the joys of microscopy. Invert function
makes light areas dark and dark areas light. Relief mode produces a very cool "3D" effect.
Comes with pre-loaded images to get you started.
A time-lapse function allows for the creation of "mini-movies" that show specimen
growth or movement over a specific period of time.
The intuitive control panel is bright, colorful and large. Even the youngest
children have no problem figuring out how to do the most amazing things with
this great educational device. The program even makes funny sounds to keep interest
high (sounds feature can be turned off to save your peace of mind!).
Incident illumination (top and bottom) is provided by our superbright LED bulbs
powered by three "AA" batteries (not included). These are the brightest bulbs
we have yet seen. You will be pulling out all your old slides to see what new
details this light can reveal. Details you missed using your old illumination
system. The intensity control function allows you to choose the illumination
level that works best for you.
The DigiScope 150 comes with an experiment manual with 32 inquiry based activities
calibration slide.
Minimum requirements: PC running Windows 98 or better, Mac OS9, 64 MB RAM (128
recommended) 300mHz, USB port, CD-ROM drive.
