Temperature Sensitive Liquid Crystal Sheets

Locate Electrical Shorts on Circuit Boards
Determine Insulation Void

12" x 12" liquid crystal Mylar sheets (0.008" thick) can be cut to size with scissors. 3 to 5 micron sized crystals dispersed within a polymer matrix exhibit total color spectrum with temperature change. Provides visual testing and evaluation.

Fast response time—excellent for low resolution thermal mapping.

The Liquid Crystal Assortment includes six 6" x 12" liquid crystal sheets, one in each of the temperature ranges listed.

Fantastic for finding power to ground shorts on Printed Circuit assemblies. Put a small amount of power to the board and the 77 - 86°F LCD sheet shows the heat and therefore the short circuit path.

Not what i expected

I was initially looking for something that would be most responsive to body temperature. A human hand touching the sheets to produce the most color (like the picture). Well is doesn’t work well, average external temp is NOT 95-104.

Works well.

Works well although very flimsy. Otherwise I would suggest it for any science enthusiast.
