Treasures from the Past

Trilobites are well known for the excellent preservation of their complex exoskeleton. After they died, they were covered with sediment, and sometimes in the right environment, the sediments formed a mold around the creature. As the rock solidified and the exoskeleton fossilized, they become a cast and mold pair.

While these pairs are rarely found intact, these 450 million year old Calymene trilobites from Morocco are an excellent example of an intact set.

Each half has beautiful detail of the trilobite's parts and can be fit together as a single unit. Size varies.
