Treasures of the Past
Goniatites are an extinct group of marine shelled molluscs that lived in the early Devonian period 400 million years ago.
Like ammonites, the goniatites all possessed an external shell that is divided infternally into chambers. The wavy lines seen on these polished shells (called "sutures) are where the chambers intersect the outer shell wall. The more complex the sutures, the more evolved the amonite.
These beautifully polished goniatites are from Morocco and average 2" to 2 1/4" in diameter. Complete with acrylic display stand.
