Every time we turn the device on, it begins to alarm after about 3 seconds, regardless of how motionless the environment is. No amount of fiddling with the beam width has any effect on its behavior.

It doesn't work at all. Every time I activate it, the alarm goes off after about 3 seconds, regardless of how still the environment is. No amount of fiddling with it seems to make a difference.
