Pulsemeter disappoints

I bought this for the pulsemeter mode and it was useless. Out of 20 trials, in 10 the thing timed out of pulsemeter mode with no result at all, and in the other 10 trials the result was a seemingly random value between 70 and 120 bpm. All the while the subject sat quietly with a pulse rate of approximately 60 bpm. Also, this thing cannot be turned off, and mode is switched by a button that stands proud. So if you put this thing in a pocket between uses it is prone to start beeping.
