About Roman Coins:
Seven replica Roman coins are waiting to be discovered in this set for the budding archaeologist. The set contains plastic replicas of Denarius and Antoninus coins ranging from 42 BC to 270 AD; depicting historical figures such as Julius Caesar and the Mad Emperor Caligula. For most of Roman history coinage consisted of gold, silver, bronze and copper discs struck with images of Gods and propagandistic messages. But the main focus was the portrait of the Emperor; often attempting to portray them as god-like and powerful. All forms of Roman coins were used widely throughout the world long after the fall of the Roman empire - and remain the basis of most currency today.
